The power of the pen! …whose law is truly the “Supreme Law” of the Land? Man’s or God’s?
It is written: “There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy.” -James 4:12 “Do not add to what I [the LORD] command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you.” -Duet. 4:2
“And what other nation is so great as to have such righteous decrees and laws as this body of laws I am setting before you today?” -Deuteronomy 4:8
“[Law] is the sum total of the rules men and women live by if there is to be any order. No society can last long without some kind of legal system. … [The Ten Commandments] are woven into the fabric of Western Society.” -You and the Law, Reader’s Digest © 1981
Man’s “Law,” however, does not point us to Christ Jesus to do what is right, but, rather, gives us rules and regulations which needlessly make life complex (tiresome and burdensome). Consider: (Latin) corruptissima re publica plurimae leges: in the most corrupt state exists the most laws.
Color of law. “The appearance or semblance, without the substance, of legal right. Misuse of power, possessed by virtue of state law and made possible only because wrongdoer is clothed with authority of state, …” -Black’s Law Dictionary, 6th Edition
“Because of what appears to be a lawful command on the surface, many Citizens, because of respect of the law, are cunningly coerced into waiving their rights, due to ignorance.” U.S. v. Minker, 350 U.S. 179, 187
It is written: “Stop trusting in man, who has but a breath in his nostrils. Of what account is he? -Isaiah 2:22 “Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn to false gods.” -Psalm 40:4
The “Law,” cannot free us or empower us from sin. The purpose of the law is to make us aware of sin that we use our freewill to submit to Christ’s righteous laws. The use of the word “Law” and “Legal” by State authorities today are mere buzz words to manipulate People! They are evil minded rulers that are building their empire with the lives of the weak and unlearned concerning spiritual things (Jesus’ teachings). Good Scripture in understanding this is found in Romans 7:7-17.
Be set free in your mind from the stronghold that these men are supposedly representatives of God. “We tend to think of the law as complex, something that only lawyers, judges, and legal educators can comprehend. Yet the history of the law can be viewed as a tale of human choices about the preservation of life, the protection of property, the exercise of individual liberty, the fashioning of creative knowledge, and other basic social concepts.” -The Oxford Guide- American Law, edited by Kermit L. Hall Spiritual Warfare
It is written: “We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. We also know that the law is not made for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious; for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for adulterers and perverts, for slave traders and liars and perjurers- and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.” -I Timothy 1:8-11
“Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people, making widows their prey and robbing the fatherless.” -Isaiah 10:1, 2
“Woe unto them that call evil good and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! –Isaiah 5:20, 21
There is physical law that governs material things (science: matter), but spiritual law governs relationships between people and things (i.e. love one for another; stewardship of property). The Temple was the place where Torah was read and disputes were settled… the Torah [Holy Scriptures] are the literature, law, and teaching for Jews. Modern day Christians as a Church Body of Christ should be operating the same way; that is, not using secular courts or methods of “rehabilitation” because Christ Jesus has taught His People the more excellent way (1 Corinthians 12:31- 13:1-13.
Judeo-Christian judiciary operate differently from modern day courts: “‘Consider carefully what you [judges] do, because you are not judging for man but for the LORD, who is with you whenever you give a verdict. Now let the fear of the LORD be upon you. Judge carefully, for with the LORD our God there is no injustice or partiality or bribery.’ … ‘ You must serve faithfully and wholeheartedly in the fear of the LORD. In every case that comes before you from your fellow countrymen who live in other cities- whether bloodshed or other concerns of the law, commands, decrees, or ordinances- you are to warn them not to sin against the LORD; otherwise his wrath will come upon you and your brothers. Do this, and you will not sin.'” –2 Chronicles 19:6, 7, 9, 10
